Karting in the SCR team goes way back to the 1980's where Dave Hockaday started karting

With 4 very successful seasons under his belt, he decided to call it a day, mainly for family and work commitments.

In the year of 1984, Colin Laine took hold of Daves equipment and has since spent 25 years in the sport.

Once Ayrton had left school and started college, he took a few trips down to the track to watch his Godfather, Colin, race and after 3 visits, he had a kart!

Ayrton came 3rd in his first season - 2005, and looked to carry that strong start to his career into 2006. However, mechanical problems and quite common brake failures plagued 2006 and could only manage 9th overall.

Ayrton decided to sit out the 2006/2007 Winter Series and jokingly said to his dad "you can do it if you want". And guess what? He did... Dave re-took his ARKS test and competed in the 06/07 Winter Series and as a result has been competing ever since.. Did we mention he is also 54 years old?
